The Animal Awareness Seminar is scheduled for the 3rd Thursday of each month from 10:00 - 11:00am. Most seminars will take place in Room 101A (the DeWeese Auditorium) at the McKnight Brain Institute. This seminar provides an overview of the Animal Care Services policies and procedures. Attendance to this seminar is required before access to the animal facilities is granted.

The Rodent Workshops are not mandatory, but are highly recommended for research staff who will be using rodents in their research. These workshops take place in Room CB162 of the Communicore building. These workshops are a combination of didactic and hands-on. The Rodent Handling session (12:30pm-2:30pm) consists of rodent handling, restraining, injection techniques, etc. The Aseptic Techniques session (12:30pm - 2:30pm) will cover aseptic surgery techniques and strategies. You may choose to go to both sessions or just one, depending on your research needs.

For the Rodent Handling Workshop, please indicate with which species you will be working and what type of procedures you will be performing in your research.

Please note that prior enrollment/approval in the Animal Contact Program is required for all Rodent Workshops.
