Production of Genetically Engineered Mice:

We will inject your transgene expression construct DNA
into zygote pronuclei to produce Transgenic Mice by gene transfer |

Knockout/Knockin Mice Generation: We will inject your targeted embryonic stem cells into
blastocysts to produce Knockout or Knockin Mice |

Rederivation of mouse lines to eliminate pathogens: We will decontaminate your line by mating your studs to our females, and transferring the resulting embryos to SPF foster mothers. Rederived lines will require isolator quarantine and pathogen testing, in addition to the regular fee. |

Reconstitution of cryopreserved embryos: We will thaw your frozen embryos and transfer them into suitable SPF foster mothers. Imported embryos will require isolator quarantine and pathogen testing, in addition to the regular fee. |

Reconstitution of cryopreserved sperm: We will thaw your frozen sperm, perform IVFs, and transfer the resulting fertilized eggs into suitable SPF foster mothers. Imported sperm will require isolator quarantine and pathogen testing, in addition to the regular fee. |

Pre-implantation Embryo Collection: We will collect pre-implantation embryos and deliver them to you for your experiments, using our standard strains, or your animals. |

Embryo/Sperm Cryopreservation: We will collect and cryopreserve embryos from 8+ donor females, depending on how many donor males you supply to us. Sperm will be collected and cryopreserved from at least two of your donated males. Session fee includes one quality control. The MMC uses only Specific Pathogen Free + Mice
A goal of the Mouse Models Core (MMC) is to keep the mice that we generate for investigators as disease free as possible. Therefore, the MMC will only purchase from certified vendors mouse strains that, in addition to testing negative for the pathogens routinely screened by ACS, are Helicobacter-free and Norovirus-free. Helicobacter (spp.) and Murine Norovirus 1 are prevalent in many “Specific Pathogen Free” (SPF) facilities and can have effects on mouse phenotypes. All MMC mice will be produced in a dedicated suite, with access strictly limited to MMC personnel, in the Cancer and Genetics Research Complex SPF rodent facility. The SPF+ MMC will be a step above the regular SPF facility in regards to pathogen exclusion. Embryo donors, embryo recipients, and stud mice will be bred on site, with frequent, regular re-stocking from certified vendors to maintain strain integrity. All racks are monitored for pathogens using sentinel mice that are tested every 3 months.
